In 1941, land for March St Mill Allotments was donated by then owners Robert Noble to local people to help them support and feed their families through World War II.
In midst of a climate emergency – the greatest existential threat humanity has faced – and during the worst cost of living crisis in 50 years this valuable community growing space is more critical than ever.
The mills - including the allotments - have been sold to Whiteburn.
John Shepherd, CEO of Whiteburn said: “Our business ethos is rooted in regeneration and the creation of sustainable places which enhance their local community. Our team has expertise and skill to create a sensitive redevelopment and I look forward to future generations being able to live and work in March Street.”
